Why i started substack
As a first-time mum, I struggled with my relationships and sense of self. Having a baby marked the start of a journey—one where I began discovering who I am and who is truly by my side.
Beginnings are EASY but completion is HARD.
I always felt like a failure for the number of things I started and then stopped halfway through, lacking the motivation to finish.
Beginning something is easy—but do you finish it?
Your answer might be yes, but mine is mostly no. I don’t always finish what I start. But after having a baby, I couldn’t stand spending my free time doing nothing but watching TV or scrolling through my phone.
My 2025 goals are to build habits, explore hobbies, and make new connections—because mums deserve their own lives too.
1. Why this, why now
Think of it this way: My screen time had shot up to 7 or 8 hours a day, and I was glued to my phone or paralyzed in front of the TV.
I lacked creativity and motivation. At one point, the most important thing in my life felt like whether the main character in my series would get her revenge.
I had enough of that.
I hated that I couldn’t think outside the box and didn’t have a hobby or activity to turn to, and that my only way to pass the time was watching TV or scrolling on my phone.
But 2025 is the year I want to change—not just to reach my goals, but to become the person I’ve always envisioned. i want to step into the identity I’ve always imagined for myself.
Why now?
About a month ago, I started reading Atomic Habits, and two quotes stuck with me:
“True behaviour change is identity change.”
“The most effective way to change your habits is to focus not on what you want to achieve, but on who you wish to become.”
If I wanted to change my behaviour, I had to change who I was. And that realization just clicked with me.
2. What kind of community do i want to build here
I’m looking to build a community of like-minded mums who are navigating the ups and downs of motherhood, personal growth, and finding balance.
I want a space where we can openly share our experiences, learn from each other, and support one another through our journeys. Whether you're struggling with building habits, strengthening your deen and finding meaningful relationships, or grasping your new identity as a mum, I want this community to be a place of connection and encouragement.
3. What to Expect
I’ll be posting twice a week:
📌 First Post: A weekly recap of my journey—what I’ve learned, habits I’ve worked on, things I tried (what worked and what didn’t), how I spent my time and my overall experiences and reflections. I’ll also share bits of my social life as someone can relate or benefit.
📌 Second Post (Sunday – Recipe of the Week): For abit of fun, I will test popular recipes from big influencers and chefs, like Mama Ganoush or viral TikTok recipes I’ve saved a hundred times. I’ll share whether they’re worth the hype or just a flop!
